Social Media Tech Must-Haves (Straight from Amazon)
I love social media, I enjoy using new social features, apps and trying out new tech, but I’m also passionate about keeping content creation simple and stress-free.
Over the years, I’ve tried a lot of gadgets and tools that claim to make the process easier. Some were great, some... weren’t so great. But a handful have genuinely earned their spot on my desk (or in my content creation kit bag), so I thought I’d share them with you.
These are the things I reach for day-in-day-out, whether I’m filming Reels, planning content, or just keeping my phone in one place while I record a quick story. I have a camera roll filled with phone slippage outtakes 🤣 IYKYK, so anything that can help avoid more of these is a win in my book.
Quick heads up: This post contains affiliate links, which means if you buy something I’ve recommended, I may earn a small commission (at no extra cost to you). I’m part of the Amazon Associates programme—but as always, I only ever recommend stuff I’ve used and genuinely love.
Here’s what I’m loving right now:
Klearlook Silicone Suction Pad Phone Holders
These double-sided suction pads are genius. I love them because they stick to pretty much any flat shiny surface and keep your phone exactly where you want it with no slipping and sliding.
I ordered these because they were double-sided so when you have finished filming your reels, you just take them off again. I didn’t want the pad on my phone permanently, so these are brilliant. I keep one on my desk and another in my handbag for quick off-the-cuff content!
Things I like about them:
▪️ They’re GREAT for reels - interesting and different shots with better light! 🙌
▪️ They’re very sticky - you need to yank them off surfaces like glass & mirrors - they hold particularly well on these
▪️ You can take them off when you’re done if you don’t want it on my phone all the time.
▪️ For non-glossy surfaced phone cases, they provide glossy film stickers to stick onto your phone so you can apply them to that.
▪️They’re cheap, £9,99 for 4 and they come in pretty colours 🩷.
Things to note:
▪️ You’ll be addicted and find yourself testing endless new Reel ideas 🤩. Some ideas to try…fridge or cupboard door opening, opening a window or bi-folds for a dynamic shot, and finally recording all your story content with good light. Hallelujah!
▪️ High shine surfaces work best - mirrors, glass windows, shiny cupboards etc
▪️ They don’t work on wood - don’t smash your phone trying to stick them to wood or any other non-glossy surface. That’s not the result we’re after.
Etentuous LED Selfie Ring Light
This ring light is a super handy piece of kit for any content creator. We all know that good lighting is EVERYTHING when creating video content and great selfies. Achieving this can prove tricky, though, especially at certain times of day/year. If this is you, then this little gem will solve this problem in a jiffy. This little ring light gives your videos a natural, flattering glow without taking up loads of space (pop it in your handbag compact). Simply charge it up and clip it on for an instant glow-up ✨.
You can alter the brightness and colour, and warmth of the light to suit your current conditions. It comes with three different clip attachments - 1 x phone clip, 1 x tripod attachment and 2 x phone back clips to attach it to the back of your phone for forward-facing lighting. Very handy!
I have been using these for years now, and I am really happy with them. Whether I’m on Zoom calls, editing voiceovers, taking calls or just trying to focus in a noisy café, these have been a game-changer. They’re comfy, reliable, and great quality for the price. I also wear them out while I’m running so I can listen to a high-tempo running playlist to keep me entertained and motivated.
LINKCOOL Tripod
Again, I have used this tripod for a good while now. It’s been on many client content shoots with me as an essential piece of kit, in fact, it’s coming with me tomorrow on my next one.
I use it for pretty much everything when on-site at shoots, or in my kitchen shooting Reels. I love that it’s lightweight but sturdy. I'm often on the go when on shoots, so I don’t want anything too bulky and heavy so this suits my needs perfectly.
The tripod adjusts to allow loads of different angles, whether you’re shooting head-on or trying something a bit more creative, it makes it possible.
I really like the Bluetooth remote, too; it’s an excellent little tool for when you’re shooting on your own, giving you the ability to get the perfect shot without needing another person present.
I took the shot below using the Bluetooth remote control 👇.
If you’ve ever recorded a video only to realise, after publishing it, the audio is rubbish, then this one’s for you. This little mic is wireless, super easy to use, and gives your content that clear, crisp sound that makes such a difference.
Now, unpopular opinion, I don’t like holding it, I just like to clip it to my collar and have my hands free. I know it’s quite on trend to hold them, but it just doesn’t work for me so this works perfectly!
Pukka Notepads
Ok, so not exactly high-tech, but 100% a must-have. I’ve always got a few of these on the go at any one time - for ideas, content planning, client notes, general brain-dumps...you name it, I’ve got a notepad for it. I still love the old-school act of physically writing stuff down, I need to be able to tick things off a list to feel on top of things so there’s always a Pukka Pad with me when I’m at work.
I also love my stationery - mechanical pencils and pastel highlighters are my jam, but that’s a whole other blog 🤣.
